Brief history of chocolate

Chocolate has a long history. It first appeared approximately 1500 years BC in Central America as the cacao beans were found on the Pacific Coast. The first European who tried this delicacy was Columbus. It happened in the sixteenth century and they say the explorer liked the delicious treat so much that he introduced it at the European market. Modern scientists have concluded that chocolate can be very good for physical and mental health. First of all, it includes such stimulants as caffeine, which can remove fatigue and recover vigor. For cardiovascular and nervous system it also has mainly positive effect. There are many interesting facts about chocolate. One of them says that those women who eat lots of chocolate give birth to happy children. Every day fifteen percent of women across the world add chocolate to their daily ration. The heaviest chocolate bar ever was made in Italy. It weighed more than two thousand kilogram. And, finally, there is the International Day of Chocolate, celebrated annually on July 11, which is an excellent opportunity for mass festivities.
